The Chain of Office 
The Chairman's Chain of Office was introduced in 1928 followed in 1951 by the Ladie's Chain of Office. The medallion at the centre of the chain depicts Hygeia, goddess of health, depicted as a maiden dressed in a long robe, feeding a serpent from a cup. Each shield attached to the chain has the name of a former Chairman of the Urban District Council of Litherland.
